Know the knowledge they have on that subject then break the question down and answer it in parts or use a presentation that I have put together for that topic and go through it slowly and allow them to ask questions when they have any questions. Allow them to grab some extra paper and allow them to give it a go and then come back together to work through it to see if they did or to figure out where they have gone wrong and correct the mistake.
