In the lesson, we will have conversational interactions over a variety of topics that the student is struggling with. Then I will work through each topic to help them understand or areas that need more clarification. After explaining if the student is ready, we will do a practice question together. If the student feels confident enough, I'll find past papers about the topic to test their understanding. This will give me a personal idea where the student is at, so I can help them master the skills they need.
If the student is struggling with remembering equations, they will do an active recall at the beginning of the lesson around 10-15, as this has been proven by a lot of studies for memory as well as a quick, efficient way to remember in a short time span. I personally used this a lot before exams. Not every studying method works for each student and I understand this, so if the student feels as though the lessons are not effective, they will try different methods and I will also analyze on their behalf what’s the most effective way for them to understand the context.
