First of all I like to have a chat with the student and understand their level of understanding and then what in particular they would like to work on. Each lesson would be on a different part of a topic (working topic by topic) then after a few sessions would be a mini test to see how well they have taken in the information. If there are any parts that are weaker it would be revisited at a later stage. I like to use power points with diagrams to help explain as I find visual learning is very helpful but can adapt easily for each student. Sending over some sheets with interactive content and a few questions is also helpful as it helps recall the information by answering them and gives the students extra resources to look at later on, we work through those each session together. I always found that making up silly little acronyms to remember the complicated processes the best, so I have lots of those that I like to tell the students to see if they find those helpful in remembering the processes as well. Biology can be a very hard subject to wrap your head around so I like to keep checking how the student is finding the topics and can take extra time on the more complicated parts. If the student had a test or anything important coming up I also like to take some time before that to recap the topics that are coming up so they are ready for the test.
