Apart from Computer Science, I have taught Mathematics, Chemistry & English preparing them to study at Universities.

My approach is basically bottom-up.
Learn properly the alphabets first, then the individual words, then the grammar of joining words to make a complete sentence which make proper sense.
No wishy-washy gobbledygook. Afterwards, you’ll be able to stand on your own feet and will possess the skill of how to learn by yourself - whatever may be the level of complexity. Confidence with Competence- no conman-ship.
