Despite coming from a non-law background (studying a non-law undergraduate degree), I was able to excel during the GDL course (Conversion) by achieving distinction grades in most subjects, including Criminal law, EU law, Contract law, Tort law, Equity and Trust, and Land law. In terms of teaching methods, I prefer using a more practical approach to understand various legal concepts. Instead of purely relying on piles of textbooks, I will provide materials that will significantly help students in approaching problem questions. I also use a lot of examples and situations to showcase how legal concepts are applied in daily life.
Other than the academic aspect, I understand the other major obstacle that law students often encounter is securing work experience. After I converted to law, I successfully applied to over 10 open days and insight programs organised by city law firms. I also secured vacation schemes at firms including DLA Piper and Mayer Brown. I also have vast experience in tackling assessment centers, as I have attended ACs at firms like Linklaters, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Clifford Chance, etc. Therefore, I am confident that I am able to help law students with their legal career development, from CV building, and writing applications, to preparing interviews/assessment centers.
