How I tutor and why I do it in this way:

Tutoring online, anywhere in the world. I have students as far reaching as Tasmnia.

I adopt creative, playful, warm, patient and enigmatic learning methods. I'm a huge fan of Montessori inspired kinaesthetic learning. The wellbeing of each student is paramount to successful learning and that requires me to build a caring and connected relationship with each student, which I do.

No one learns well unless they are happy, relaxed and calm, I therefore ensure that this is at the heart of all my sessions. Wellbeing may be a buzzword right now, but there is truth to its importance. I am also a qualified yoga, breathworks and movement practitioner and find that wellbeing practices not only enhance students' learning, but are integral to success.

Individuation of learning is key, everyone does not learn in the same way and it is imperative to understand that. I like to start from the unique abilities each student brings with them; using these as a springboard into their learning, this helps them to assimilate the work they are doing.

The fostering of independence is so important and placing a high value on the freedom and empowerment the student gets from learning for themselves. I feel it is therefore my role to help facilitate this independence.

Making mistakes is a huge part of the learning process, leaning to say: 'I got that wrong, let's make it right', 'I can't do that, lets learn how', that didn't go as planned, what can I learn from my mistake', and I don't know the answer, let's find out', these are statements that are key to developmental learning at any age and are at the foundations of how I teach.

An active learning approach, embracing embodied education and the philosophy that movement and learning are tied together. I find embodiment is a true and effective way of tutoring anyone, but this is especially so for those with learning differences or who are on the autism spectrum - here kinesthetic learning is king.

Finding creative solutions is the answer for students who find learning a challenge. Each student may require a different creative solution to aid their learning and it's my job to find it.

Making myself redundant is my job, once I have imparted resilience, confidence and trust in the students ability to learn and study. My aim is for all my students to be able to go it alone, once I have taught them how.

I provide a handcrafted tutoring experience that ensures personal development, growth, confidence and results academically. A truly individual approach to learning that is enjoyable, inspiring and successful.

We homeschool our two children, nine and 12. They have never been in mainstream education, neither my husband nor I felt it was the best place for them. We wanted to adopt the European system of schooling from seven years old. When we first started out we had no idea where to start. Cheska helped us to set up a tailor made syllabus and tutored with us for the first year. She came back and taught the youngest to read and write too. I was amazed at how quickly both learned to read and write under her keen tuition. Both girls went from not reading at all to solo reading within 6 months. Their handwriting is infinitely better than their peers who have been schooled since four. Both children love to read and write and simply enjoy learning so much. Thank you Cheska, when we had doubts about whether homeschooling was the right choice, you put our minds and hearts at rest. It was the best decision for us all.

My two boys (8 & 11) have made such remarkable progress under the tuition of Cheska Bridge. Huge leaps forward in their confidence, written work and reading. They are now able to read, grasp and explain complex ideas. I could not recommend her more highly.

My teenage son is on the autism spectrum, so far nothing had really helped him. Cheska began with breath- work which seemed to overnight calm his hyperactivity. She then introduced us to the circles of attention. Which gave Ted a way-in to communicating with others. It seemed a little paint by numbers for me. But it relaxed his nervous system and enabled him to not only participate in school, but talk to new people. She gave him tools that worked the way his brain worked. This was so new to us. Ted was calmer and happier than I have ever seen him. Cheska was now able to began tutoring. They systematically worked through his homework and course work. As a result of Cheska’s magic work Ted has secured a place at his top choice of University. Thank you so much. Lara
