I have past experience conducting 1-1 tutoring, both online and in person. I like to tailor the format, content and dynamics of the lessons specifically to the particular students I have. I can tutor traditional school subjects, but particularly French given my degree qualification.
When tutoring French, I am comfortable following a similar structure to those used in schools, which place a focus on understanding grammar rules and constructing sentences, but I am also able to follow more non-traditional methods. Non-traditional methods include the use of more technology and video materials, focusing on conversation and developing spoken French capabilities, which are useful for students wishing to spend time in the target country, or to have a knowledge of the language that incorporates French cultural phenomena.

The dynamic of the lessons I give are very collaborative, I enjoy when my students are comfortable asking particular questions and offer suggestions as to what they would like to learn. I am aware that rote learning can be useful, but it is very valuable when students are directly engaged with and involved with lesson planning because I find that this encourages improvement.
