I use many different strategies and collaborate with students to find which learning techniques works best for them. I practice student-led teaching, meaning I prioritise your learning style, ability, and pace. To check if you are thriving under my tuition, I do regular small quizzes that include application questions to ensure you aren’t just remembering the information, but truly understanding it. As a lover of science, I find passing on my passion a true calling. Students share this passion for science when they understand and appreciate how amazing science is. This only comes from nurturing of the unique ways they learn instead of forcing them into a structure that may not work for them. I believe that learning doesn’t have to be boring and love to share the amazing applications of what I’m teaching to the world and will never fail to answer a question even if not relevant to the student’s specification. Science at GCSE and A-Level is very much “trust us this is what happens and you don’t need to know how or why” but this sometimes hinders understanding. If you ask me how a neutron decays to a proton and releases a high energy electron in beta-decay because it just doesn’t make sense, I’ll teach myself some quantum physics and explain it in a simple digestible manner so it does! I want to nurture a student’s curiosity for the subject because that is the only way that will have a passion for it and therefore a drive to work as hard as possible.
