In my teaching, I focus on positive, engaging lessons with quality-first teaching methods. I have taught history at ages 11-16 for the previous four years, therefore I use methods which have proven results. For example, I make frequent use of pedagogical strategies such as recall activities and interleaving information, to retain information and prepare for exams. I like to end every lesson with a structured writing activity to build core written skills. I also focusing on revisiting and upgrading work, in order to encourage excellent amongst my students. Furthermore, I hope to encourage a love of history and humanities, so aim to encourage debate and questioning as a part of my lessons and to create a varied, engaging curriculum.
I am able to offer a wide-ranging service as a tutor. I have taught in a range of education environments and have also been responsible for successful history curriculum design. I have particular familiarity with teaching the Edexcel GCSE history specification, also have further experience in teaching KS3 RE and Geography. Therefore, I am able to pitch lessons to the appropriate level and utilise my experience to find the right approach for the individual.
In my teaching experience, I have completed the rigorous Teach First programme, gained qualified teacher status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education at distinction. As part of Teach First, I have conducted independent research to understand how students learn best. I hold a history degree from New York University Abu Dhabi, a rigorous international environment, and am working towards my MA in history.
