I have worked previously as a Maths tutor, helping KS3 students who were struggling with Maths to achieve their potential and teaching them how to overcome their difficulties and fix mistakes. I have also tutored GCSE Physics which enabled me to develop a more visual approach to tutoring, using important diagrams and drawings to help solidify a student's understanding. Finally, I have recently worked as a Learning Support Assistant in a local school, which has massively improved my communication skills and my understanding of the education system as a whole.

Personally, I find that answering and asking questions are the two most important aspects of learning. My sessions would be structured by beginning with a demonstration of the topic being covered and answering any questions from students. This would then be followed by some basic to intermediate questions, so I am able to grasp how well the student understands from their previous knowledge. Then, working together with the student, we will progress onto more difficult and challenging questions to stretch their knowledge and ability. At the end of every session, I find a plenary is vital to round off the lesson and review everything that has been taught.

I find tutoring to be hugely rewarding, not only for an improvement to a student's education, but also in their one-to-one communication skills, their confidence and helping to gain a more positive outlook on school. I hope to achieve this by creating a safe and comfortable environment, where students can thrive and go beyond what they thought was possible.
