Hello, I'm Charlie - an enthusiastic 26 year old Musician and Music Tutor based in Manchester. I have played the Guitar for over 9 years now and have studied Music Performance and Recording BA(Hons) at the University of Salford. Having only started learning myself at the age of 17 I know it is possible to pick up this great instrument with the right attitude and right amount of practice.

I have played live in multiple venues across Manchester and Leicester, as a solo artist, and as an accompanist and band member. I have written, recorded and performed original music to audiences ranging from intimate venues of 20-30 people to larger sized event halls of people. There is nothing more exciting to me!

I have a range of experience teaching children from the ages of 7 all the way up to adults in the working world looking to pick up something new. I am looking for inspiring students from all ages (no younger than 7) to teach from the bottom all the way to the top or wherever you would like to get to. I cover everything from the very basics, all the way through to more advanced techniques from a range of different genres of music - I specialize in Blues, Rock, Folk, Funk, Fingerstyle and Jazz. We can also try learning any songs you would like to be able to play but are currently struggling with.

If it's your own music you would like to start writing but are having difficulty, I also offer Composition as a specific learning course where we learn about both common and uncommon techniques used in popular music styles; incorporating little snippets of music theory knowledge to help you understand the how's and why's.

To take your confidence to the next level when playing with other musicians, Improvisation is the ultimate tool for deepening your understanding of music and your instrument, which I also offer as a specific learning pathway. We will take a close look at scales and modes for soloing over chords, and also at the harmony of the chords themselves and how these relate to each other.

If its music theory lessons you are looking for I cover everything from beginners up to grade 5 and teach in a relaxed, engaging way. I use problem solving and the practical application of theory as a way of teaching it to keep it interesting and refreshing for my students. If exams are your thing and you're looking for that next certificate I offer all the available exam boards as an option including ABRSM, Trinity College, and of course RockSchool!
