I have been a teacher for 14 years working in independent and state schools. I teach in both the primary and secondary sector and I have a good deal of experience teaching one to one.

I understand what is needed for Private School Entrance Exams and 11+ exams and if it is possible to find out which exam boards are used and you are happy to purchase practise papers, I can teach to the specific exam that your child will be sitting. I can teach all or some of the elements of the exam, dependent on your needs, including Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. All materials are purchased at an extra cost.

I have worked with many children who have been diagnosed with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ASD, processing disorders and a range of Learning Abilities and Disabilities. I understand their world and am able to teach effectively within it.

I have attended courses at institutions such as the Cambridge University MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit to understand how the different types of memory work when learning and recalling information for exams. I have also attended courses on multiple types learning difficulties and how best to address them when learning.

I am also experienced in teaching exam technique and teaching pupils manage their nerves prior to an exam.

In addition to teaching for Entrance Exams and the 11+ I can continue to work with your child as they progress through their learning career, teaching highly effective study skills and revision techniques that are best embedded into learning practise from Year 7 onwards.
