I have much experience helping both Primary School and GCSE students with their comprehension of English. During the week, I have previously volunteered at an after school club that helped aid children aged 5-11 with their literacy and numeracy skills in preparation for their SATS.

My lessons take place online, in which I first help students (and/or parents if applicable) discuss the areas and topics they struggle with the most. I then create detailed lesson plans, if requested, for the topics that we’ll be going through. After which I use exam specifications to focus all of my learning. The format of my lessons may come in the following forms based on student/parent preferences:
-Exam Questions
- Practice papers
-How to plan out questions using resources such as mind-maps, blurting and paragraph plans.
- Character and plot analysis
- Comprehension questions
- Basics such as word classes using cue cards
- Reading skills
- Comprehending texts and extracts
- Teaching the basics of literacy eg. verbs, nouns, adjectives etc.
- How to create an effective summary and/or how to use techniques such as timelines to create summaries of topics.


All of these methods are used in order to aid my students into achieving good grades at both SATS and GCSE level.
