I like to take things at the student's pace. Learning a new language can be very scary so I make sure to create an open and fun learning environment for my students. We can work on grammar or fluency or pronunciation, depending on the student's needs. For an hour long lesson, we would start with light conversation to warm up, then some exercises or grammar practice, then end with general discussion based around what we had just learnt in order to drill it in.
I have experience working with all ages, and am comfortable teaching kids and adults equally. My main goal as a teacher is working on fluency and helping my students get the confidence they need to be able to speak English. I have worked as an English instructor as well as a private tutor.
In my experience, it is much easier to speak when it is about something that you are passionate about, so I like to give my students the space to discuss their interests with me in order to give them the motivation to talk. Some lessons may be 'presentations' where I ask my students to give me a presentation about something, or set up a debate for my classes where students can discuss topics with each other.
My key philosophy is fun, I want students to come into my lessons expecting to enjoy themselves. It is impossible to learn if you do not like your teacher or your classes and I want to make sure that all my students want to learn.
