I normally like to start with a small assessment of your current level in the subject area so I can understand what needs to be worked on and what you feel comfortable with. I then would like to understand where you feel you need support so that I can tailor the lessons to these areas. The lessons will then be taught based on your preferred learning method, whether this is teaching through a topic with check up questions to evaluate understanding or the other way around. If more content is needed on a topic I will produce a more in depth learning material to work through before assessing the understanding and spend time going back through questions that are challenging for you so that we can identify what can be done differently to make these more approachable. I am currently teaching GCSE level science leading up to the exams so have experience in explaining exam questions slowly and breaking down topics into essential information.
I will look at your exam board and exam level so as to understand what content is present in the exam along with the level of detail you will need in order to reach your goal. It is important for you to know that your experience of the lessons is what matters, so if something isn't working right for you then you can always mention a different approach you'd like to try or ask for an alternative method to learning so that it is more accessible.
