I have a degree in music and the piano was my specialist instrument.
I have been teaching the piano for over 25 years, many students who started lessons with me as a beginner have achieved passes in the higher grades - beyond grade 6. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and abilities and it is very satisfying to see their skills and understanding of music develop and evolve. Some have continued to study music at higher education level.
I am a traditional teacher in many ways, all my students do scales and technical exercises for a small proportion of the lesson. I do however keep myself up to date with the changing demands of exam syllabi and new repertoire. Some of my students choose to do their exams face to face, others prefer the digital route.
