I have been an English teacher for 18 years. I have taught GCSE English Language AQA and Literature AQA as well as AS and A Level Literature, Language and Combined, I have taught across a number Specifications including AQA B for Lang/Lit combined, Eduqas for both A Level language and Literature and OCR for AS and A Level Literature.

I use PowerPoint Slides for each session combining visual imagery and prompts for questions/ tasks and discussion points, I have also presented lessons on Pear Deck and Teams. I like to engage students, especially when they are introduced to a topic they may not have previously known, by using a range of activities such as drama, creative writing and visual stimulus. My lessons usually begin with a starter activity e.g. a quiz and recap of previous sessions I then use handouts to support the main body of the lesson, sometimes questions, Venn diagrams or mind maps to help students visualise concepts. I have also produced a range of workbooks to support students and consolidate their learning. I ensure that the activities are linked to the requirements of the exam boards in order to allow students to develop their understanding of what the exam questions are asking them to do. I think the most important thing about learning however, is that students are able to discuss thier ideas about the topics that we are studying and articulate their viewpoint on an issue. I believe this gives students confidence in their understanding of a topic and helps develop their writing around the subject.
