Carla Mariel Rodriguez

I am Italian-Argentinean and live in Italy. During the pandemic, I taught and also studied online at a language institute and for a school abroad. Last year I finished my university master's degree in "DaF-DaZ Didaktik".

Before the pandemic, I was a local teacher at the Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg in Germany in 2019. I took over teaching sections in different grades of primary school as well as lower secondary school and conducted teaching projects. I was also an Erasmus student for one calendar year at the Heidelberg University of Education. This year I also took the CLIL exam.

I used to live in Argentina, where I studied. After finishing school in Argentina, I decided to start teaching Spanish as well as German. In 2013, I completed my primary school teaching degree with a very good grade and then happily concentrated on the German language.

As I enjoy working with children, adolescents and adults, I was one of the few students who simultaneously took German teacher training for kindergarten, primary, secondary as well as higher education. In 2018, I completed both German teaching degrees. I also applied for a scholarship from the Kultusministerium Konferenz Deutschland (Pädagogischer Austauschdienst) this year and was successful in getting it. I participated in a 2019/2020 professional development programme for German-speaking teachers in Germany.

Since 2010, I have been responsible as a German teacher at a German school abroad in Buenos Aires in primary and lower secondary classes. 5 years ago, I had my first experience with children in kindergarten. Since 2017, I have worked as a primary school teacher and teacher in lower secondary classes, teaching science, geography and mathematics.

Outside of teaching, I have also gained professional experience. I worked as an assistant and German examiner at a language policy programme of the Ministry of Education of Buenos Aires from 2008 to 2018. In Germany and in my home country, I have undergone several training courses in the field of pedagogy, didactics, technology or educational policy. As an Erasmus student, I have attended various lectures and seminars at the University of Education in Heidelberg to further my education.
