Are you tired of traditional methods of studying like rote learning which is ineffective and tedious?

Through years of experience as a lifelong learner, I have experimented and tinkered with many learning techniques to aid my learning journey. This has enabled me to develop the most effective learning strategies.

To become a "subject matter expert" (SME) requires much more than just memorisation of a topic. It takes an in-depth understanding and application of the concepts and principles.

Does this mean my students must know every extraneous piece of information about a subject of by heart..?

No. In fact, my method of teaching is simple. It's centered around creating a core framework around a topic that allows my students to effortlessly apply the key concepts and become an enviable SME.

For example: How do we access the internet?

What is a computer?
What is the internet?
What is a network?
What is a web browser?

Once a subject is granularised, my students optimise the fundamentals and together we create the framework.

On-boarding

I typically like to understand my students and their needs before I begin any formal teaching. This is so that I can validate which learning style will suit them best. I do this because there is no cookie-cutter approach when it comes to learning.

The next step is to find out what you need to learn, by when, and then estimate how much time you have available before your deadline. From there we can begin to plan sessions and get to the fun part.

Lessons

Our lessons will take place live on zoom and will all be recorded on a drive which you will always have access to should you need to replay the lesson or take extra notes (always a good idea).

Learning isn't a spectator sport, lessons will involve fun mnemonic games such as active recall, Q & A's etc all delivered over zoom and coupled with miro (interactive whiteboard).

Homework

This is where my learners get to take responsibility. All I ask is that you try your absolute best when completing these exciting challenges.

Depending on the nature of the preceding lessons, I may allocate homework such as a presentation, a role play (real-life scenario), a project or a test.

Final words

No matter your ability or situation, there is no challenge that together we can't overcome and transform you into a high-performing student.
