I have two A's at English GCSE as well as taking English Literature at A Levels for the english education system. I am capable of working with young students to get the best grades possible for them. As I am currently at the University of Glasgow in my second year of a History degree I have the experience of different teaching methods and can therefore settle on the theory that building off motivation and interests helps in creating methods of discipline that work for each individual. I will use the students prior interests to elevate their learning and create tasks like quizzes, flashcards, practice papers and worksheets that cater to the individual.
We will work with their exam board criteria to elevate their grades whilst meeting the specifics required. For English literature we will work on building their reading, speaking, analytical writing and listening skills in order to study their Shakespeare play, 19th century novel, poetry, and their 20th century fiction or drama.
For English Language, we will work on their critical reading, comprehension, methods of writing, and their spoken language skills.
These can all be accomplished through catered past papers, practice questions, thorough readings and summaries and lesson tasks like mind maps, small presentations, analysing literature, wider reading and contextual work like flashcards and a greater understanding of the contemporary situation behind each section of study like Shakespeare. No student will feel left behind or in the dark about any area of their study whilst we build their confidence in their work.
