Lesson 1 - We will talk to each other and get to know a bit about each other before starting to learn. After this, we will familiarise ourselves to the instrument and the different parts of the drumkit. We will learn a basic beat and apply it to a song such as Seven nation army by the White Stripes or Back in black by AC/DC. We will practice this if there is time left in the lesson.

Lesson 2 - After practicing the song from lesson 1 we will begin to learn how to practice effectively and learn different things to apply to music such as drum fills and syncopation. We will learn some basic music theory surrounding drums such as time signatures, tempo and subdivisions. You will have to practice this at home in the time between lesson 2 and lesson 3.

Lesson 3 - With a basic knowledge of drum music theory and particularly, subdivisions, we can begin learning more songs. already knowing what music tastes you like from lesson 1 I will have chosen some songs for you to choose what to learn, or you may have a few suggestions yourself.
We will listen to the chosen song and pick apart the drums included and begin learning. By the end of the lesson you should have a basic understanding of the parts in the song and you can practice it out of lesson time.

Future lessons - in other lessons we will do a range of different activities surrounding drums. This will include:
. learning more songs and building a setlist of around 8 songs
. learning more drum theory including writing and reading drum sheet music.
. looking at official rock school grades and learning the songs and technical abilities included.
. looking at playing in a band.
. learning how to master accuracy over impressiveness or speed.
. looking at potential opportunities at playing live.
