I have always enjoyed learning about different cultures, languages and societies, so it seemed only natural to study this at university. Although enrolled on a Chinese and Japanese studies course, I still spend a lot of my free time with my Spanish and French speaking friends.

In my gap year, I worked as a tutor in secondary schools supporting GCSE students. I found that students had a variety of learning styles and responded well when I tailored my teaching methods to their individual needs. While I do have some generic teaching resources, I much prefer to adapt these after spending a short time getting to know the learner. If you were to choose me to assist your language learning, part of our first session would assess your current knowledge and focus on how to achieve your future goals.

After our initial session, further sessions will include a variety of methods and activities. For example;

- PowerPoint presentations
- Vocabulary lists
- Useful websites
- Written, oral and listening activities
- Conversation practice
- Set and mark assignments as appropriate
- Film and book recommendations (appropriate to current language ability)
- Social media signposting for further information
- Instant messaging / voice notes by agreement
