I use creative exercises and activities centered as often as possible around art, food, music, and world culture in my lessons to reinforce memory, track progress, and encourage practice of usage. I am developing my curriculum more with each lesson and tailoring lessons to the needs and interests of my individual students. My teaching style is informative but laid back. I encourage my students to practice as much as possible with me and outside of my lessons as I believe that is the best way to master a foreign language based on my experiences in learning to speak Spanish and achieving my bachelor's degree in my second language which is Spanish. I like to have fun while I teach and I encourage students to joke in their second language whenever possible. It is always better to laugh while we are learning and the best way to internalize what we learn is to use it to create something that we come up with ourselves like a song or a joke. I also employ a conversational style of teaching with more advanced students where we can practice speaking English in talking about all things relevant to you in your life and I will give feedback on grammar, usage, and accent as needed. I will also create custom lessons and activities based on the topics relevant to individual students and provide extra opportunities to practice and improve in problem areas of writing or speech such as when I had a hard time learning to properly use the past tense while I was learning Spanish and needed extra practice with that.
