I like to take a more vocational approach to learning. I definitely never enjoyed a language lesson where I was talked at for an hour, made to copy down grammar rules for hours on end, or get out a dusty old textbook that has no relevance to the modern target country.
My personal favourite lessons were talking, bringing in personal experience and sharing with the people around me about our hobbies, likes, dislikes and stories. These are also the most memorable and I hope to emulate that in our lessons.
I like using modern material from the UK, I think this is critical to language acquisition, with engaging material from whatever you're interested in, perhaps politics? Reality TV? Film and cultures? You are guaranteed to learn more effectively if you're interested in the content, which forms the core of my lessons. From there, we can target your individual needs and build engaging activities that make learning English feel less like a 'have to' and more like a 'want to'!
I want any potential learner to understand that you are in control of our lesson, I am highly responsive and adaptable and want you to get the most out of our time together! We can take things at your pace and my lessons are a safe space for all learners, no matter your proficiency.
Learning a new language can be scary and difficult, but it is so rewarding and I hope to create a positive envrionment for you to master idiomatic English - you can do it!
