Session Format:
My sessions will be online and active participation will be encouraged. Prior to the session, there will be an opportunity to inform me what you want to cover in a session. Each session will be structured with a clear beginning, middle, and end. The session will start with a review of previous material and an opportunity to ask questions regarding previous sessions. The middle will build on and introduce new concepts, and the end will consist of a summary. Asking questions to make sure you understand the topic throughout the session is strongly encouraged as this is crucial to shape the direction of the lessons. Pacing of the sessions are flexible, we can speed up or slow down depending on your comfort and comprehension levels. Sessions will incorporate various types of content, such as text explanations, visual aids, and interactive exercises, keeping the learning process engaging and helps cater to different learning styles. I can focus on developing your problem-solving skills and critical thinking. We work through problems together and discuss different approaches to finding solutions.
Experience:
I have just completed my second year of studying BSc Hons Biomedical Science at Nottingham Trent University and I am heading into my third and final year. I hope to then progress to study Secondary Science (Biology) and achieve a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in order to become a Biology teacher in a secondary school. In my first year at NTU, I achieved a first class mark. During my A-Levels I achieved a grade B in Biology, B in Chemistry, B in Mathematics and A* in Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). I achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Biology alongside eight other grade 9s and two grade 8s. During my time at sixth form, I was an academic mentor for Mathematics, where I created and delivered tailored Mathematics sessions to small groups of secondary school students. I adapted these to online sessions during Covid. Additionally, I used spreadsheets to monitor student progress in the session over the course of the year.
