I have worked with various tutoring companies, supporting children aged 6-19 years old with both English and Math up to a GCSE level. As of February 2023, I work with the award-winning charity Get Further which supports disadvantaged children aged 16-19 to gain crucial GCSE qualifications.
With so much experience, you can rest assured that you've made the right pick with me!
Lessons are personalised and tailored to the student's needs and goals. Each lesson is 2 hours at maximum, with a minimum of 4 hours per week in 2-hour intervals. This can be adjusted based on what the student feels they need most.
The first 2 lessons will focus on completing a practice exam, and identifying what types of questions the student finds most difficult. Once this is complete, subsequent lessons will focus on the most essential material in the exam and the most common topics. Not only this, but the focus will also remain largely on the students' most difficult topics. Each lesson will begin with a starter task, before continuing with a review of the topic and question types, with regular pauses for content review and exam practice.
the structure is open to change depending on the student and their educational needs, however, each month there will be a compulsory review exam lesson, to ensure content is consistently practised and to engage in interleaved learning and practice. You can't forget if you always practice!
