I have a BSc in Maths from St. Andrews University and have had a keen interest in maths all my life.
I have over 6 years experience tutoring maths at various levels. I have helped many young students to gain a confident approach to maths, and I have successfully coached older students who are looking to gain entrance to higher education. I was also involved for a considerable period teaching higher level maths to a mature student needing maths to progress to an Engineering course. I also have recent experience tutoring students with special needs such as ASD.

I am a calm patient tutor. I aim to build a rapport with the student with the goal of removing anxiety and making maths a subject they can approach with confidence. I design an initial assessment to identify strengths and weaknesses in order to focus on the appropriate areas. I recognise that it is important at an early stage to establish targets, whether these are entrance exams or GSCE for example. My experience is that after a few lessons it will become clear whether the student has a quick grasp of techniques or whether a slower, more methodical approach is needed. I can then adjust the program according to the specific requirements.
