For tuition to be successful I need to know why you need, or think you need, a tutor. Sometimes its because you missed something or didn't quite understand something in class and just did not feel confident asking about it in class. My lessons are not only about giving you the knowledge that you need to pass the exam, but the confidence to ask the questions you need to ask.

I have been teaching in further education and higher education for around 13 years now. I watch students come from schools to college and university with good basic knowledge, but lacking confidence in their knowledge, usually because they have done the basics, but little else. These days school exams can be so intense there is not much else we can do but throw out the information and hope it sticks. But not everyone can learn effectively like this. And when it comes to learning science I firmly believe we need to understand it as much as know it.

My lessons are informal. I like to talk and get my students to engage in talking with me about the subjects we are taking. So, its not like a classroom lesson, with lots of information, images and homework. I want to give you the knowledge to pass exams in a way that you can enjoy and remember. I may use videos, slides, images when they are appropriate; I may use songs, rhymes and poetry, if thats what helps you. The point is, we will start with what you need, develop our own teaching style together, and end with a confident and knowledgeable you.
