Lessons are interactive, with a visual presentation on the basics and theory for students using colourful and helpful diagrams and giving examples of theory and techniques with my own images.
After class input we then go out and practise the theory together. I then ask students to send me their 6 best images from the session and we review these the next session. Students learn well from this sharing their images and the tutors and discussing the pros and cons (strengths and weaknesses) of the images.
This teaching approach has worked well for technical and more creative photography courses. Over the years I have taught over 400 students across the UK, in Europe and on Russian icebreakers in the Arctic and Antarctic.
