My lessons are widely varied depending on the age group and skill level taught, but I like to be as hands on as possible. It won’t all involve sitting and listening to me talk!
For those studying a course (GCSE, A Level, Bachelor of Arts), my teaching will be focused on your curriculum, honing in the skills you’ve already learned and helping you to top up your theory knowledge.
For those without a main focus on a particular course, there will be a structured blend of theory and practical work, covering a breadth of topics such as:
Writing
Film Theory
Camera Operation
Sound Recording
Video Editing
Pre-production / Production /Post-production Workflow
Set Etiquette
Working with Clients
Genre Studies
Film Equipment
& more
And, for the little ones, I aim to make the process as enjoyable as possible. Having taught filmmaking classes to 7 - 13 year olds for the last three years, I’ve learned that at this age, a fun and memorable experience is as important as transferring knowledge. Filmmaking can be a mentally taxing task, and overloading a young student will only lead to their sharp decline in interest.
I also like to provide a variety of creative challenges as homework, to all ages, which are, of course, optional but highly encouraged!
I am also open to tailoring my teaching towards a personal goal you would like to meet, or wrap it around a specific part of the subject.
Please get in touch with any questions you may have!
