Given a day or two preparation, the format can be whatever is preferred but a lot of practice will likely be involved as well as difficulty levels in order to cement an understanding rather than just understanding it for the session. It will also likely be simplistic and comprehensible as for some people maths can get confusing when too much happens at once so it will likely be a step by step or using what is already known to build up each level of understanding. It also depends on the wanted outcome from the sessions. If it’s for exams it becomes a lot more narrow but if it’s more external reasons, sessions can be more dynamic. Experience wise I have just completed my GCSES myself so I can speak confidently about the exams and how they are. Grade wise I’m expected a 9 and truly believe I will achieve that. I am 100% doing mathematics at A-Level also which may help my knowledge expand in the future. I have always had a natural gift of maths clicking for me with little effort but I also can understand the difficulties and aid others in becoming better at the subject for any level of understanding. I can also teach GCSE Physics and GCSE Geography to Grade 9 on top of this but Maths is definitely something I’m much more confident tutoring.
