I have two years of teaching and tutoring experience, and have had particularly notable success in helping students with their introductory physics courses, which appear to be universally difficult to everyone.
I taught as a teaching assistant (TA) at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, during which I served as laboratory coordinator and marker. During this time, I provided constructive feedback, and assisted students with lab work, assessments, and exam review.
As a tutor at the same university, I was able to apply what I learned as TA to implement my own student regimens, working one-on-one with students using a very custom-tailored tutoring style. I first determine the student's material proficiency and teaching style, and then create a study plan that incorporates their needs, and works towards strengthening their weaknesses. For example, if a student is more visual, I make an effort to utilize more graphs and figures in my instruction so that the material really clicks for them. I point out any gaps in knowledge, and provide strategies for filling in those gaps. I have also worked overtime with students during exam periods to ensure that they feel comfortable and confident with the concepts and calculations they'll need to apply and make come exam time. This could be as much as 5-6 hours of tutoring in one day.
As a tutor, I am wholly invested in your success as a student, and will do my absolute best to make sure you not only succeed in your courses, but thrive!
