I will always start by gaining an understanding of the students prior knowledge and reinforcing this before moving onto the main/next topic.
I rely on building understanding, so the first thing you learn will be the base point for everything that comes after, each lesson/topic will flow with one another.
I like to incorporate as much fun as I can into my lessons, as boredom is the number one reason some people struggle to learn.
I am a student who has had multiple placements in a primary environment, all with different age groups meaning I have been able to develop a strong understanding of how people learn and how to make topics stay in the mind.
I pride myself on being able to build a friendly yet professional relationship with all my students, as I am a firm believer that liking the teacher delivering the lesson makes the learning stick a lot more.
I also rely on student feedback a lot, if I’m teaching something you feel strong on, we move on faster, I won’t bore you with topics that you already have an understanding on.
I have ADHD and struggled to learn when I was in school, however that has only made my ability to teach stronger.
