When first starting with a new student I like to take a couple lessons to understand the students gaps in knowledge.
This is done so that we can fill these gaps before continuing with further teaching.
I also enjoy having the students input in the lessons and so getting to understand the way they are taught in school helps to find the easiest way to teach them methods without confusing them.
Through my experience of teaching GCSE students in the past and my one experience of taking GCSE’s I understand that most times in school it is difficult to fully understand what the teacher is teaching due to them having to teach several students at once. It can lead to students lagging behind the whole class or a student being dragged back by their class.
Therefore I believe that by getting ahead of the class in school is the best way to tackle GCSE maths, as at times the teacher will have to sacrifice some topics in order to finish the more challenging topics in the course. But with the way I teach my lessons I believe that every topic will be able to be taught before examination time. And I strive to make sure that students understand each topic in depth.
