My name is Boo, and I have taught English as a foreign language for 15 years. I have a BA Hons degree in German, French and Italian, and a Masters degree in Education and Applied Linguistics. In terms of EFL qualifications, I have the TEFL certificate, and also the Diploma certificate, with a distinction in the practical element. That all sounds great on paper, but it doen't mean a thing if your English teaching isn;'t engaging, interesting and if you don't take a student's individual needs into consideration!
I pride myself on being able to create lessons that are matched exactly to the needs of my students. I have worked in many different schools and colleges, both abroad (Poland, Germany and Portugal) and in the UK, teaching General English, Business English and English for Special Purposes (such as hairdressing, accounting and jounalism). This wide range of experience has meant that I am able to be flexible and adaptable in my approach and I understand that everyone's needs are different. I am able to produce lessons, whether they are grammar or vocabulary based, spoken or written, to a high standard. I also have a great deal of experience in teaching exam based English, including Cambridge exams. When creating lessons, I use a wide variety of sources, including EFL language textbooks, newspapers/magazines, games, music and my own materials, depending on individual student needs and preferences.
I love meeting new people and finding out about what they do and why they want to learn English, whether it's for work or pleasure, just for improving their conversation skills or to achieve a higher level of written language. I have a family and live in Norfolk in the east of England with my husband, two children and dog. I love travelling to new places, going to art galleries, gardening, nature and cooking.
