First, for the formart of tutoring, I build rapport with students by taking short time greeting and sharing bit of background information from both of us. Then, we set the goals and objectives of our classes, followed by stating the materials needed for such class lessons. I then briefly introduce the course plan to the students and how we align the lessons with the standards of a curriculum provided by school, if available.
Regarding the lessons taken, I first introduce the topic of the day, the teaching methods such as using a video, oral explanation, or PowerPoint presentation. I then proceed with teaching the content to the client, whom I request to be attentive and pose any questions as we progress. Finally, I will ask him/her some questions to test the understanding of the topic. I will also provide assignments on taught topic.
In the event I am helping the student with homework, I will involve him/her in every step of the solution for knowldge sharing. In the end, I will wrap up the lesson or assignment session with a summary and plans fo the next one.
