In our first lesson, we will work through a maths or physics past paper at a pace that suits the student's comfort level, ensuring they understand every step by regularly checking in on their progress. During this session, I will take detailed notes on the areas where the student encounters difficulties, using a traffic light system to indicate the severity of each struggle. This system helps us identify and prioritize topics that need more attention in future lessons. At the end of each lesson, I will write a brief summary to capture the key points and progress made. This summary will help me remember how the lesson went and identify areas for improvement or focus in future sessions, ensuring a continuous and tailored learning experience for the student.
In the second lesson, we will focus on exam-style questions online. I will actively engage the student in explaining their thought process, allowing me to understand their approach and guide them towards finding the correct answers independently. This method not only builds their problem-solving skills but also boosts their confidence in tackling similar questions on their own.
This process will continue, alternating between past paper questions and addressing difficult topics, until the student demonstrates minimal or no struggles across the entire paper. Every four weeks, I will meet with parents online to discuss the student’s progress, future tutoring plans, and any significant achievements, provided they are willing.
