Suhail Shafi Mr Bowring was incredibly popular amongst the students and had a no nonsense, matter of factly approach towards teaching. I was impressed by his way with the students and how much they liked him, given that I never fit in with the others at OCS.
Irfan Mirza Bill Bowring.....thank you thank you thank you!! BEST Teacher EVER!!!! Even a better human being....
Moad G. Alzarrough ...You will always be considered as a perfect Idol Mr. Bowring. You are certainly and have been the Beautiful Mind and a very inspiring Teacher. Thank you for these beautiful pictures and thank you for what you made us today. God bless you and your family.

Mr bowring.... hope you are great....my name is akbar. And I was your student ?????...in Libya...u taught us physics... it's not the subject you taught, it's the way you taught that no one ever forgot you....u were the best by far...your advise on smoking and its effect, the way you made us run up and down the stairs to check the heart rate, or when you always used to say, two wrong answers on different sheets meant cheating, it was my last year, O-levels and then I left for india after studying in Libya for 7 years, I remember when I said good bye to you, you asked where in india are you from, I said central India and you laughed and said where, giving me the impression that you just might turn up one day....you left an indelible impression on me, today I am heading the learning and development function in a company at dubai... and so much of what I do is an extension of your values... I do hope you are great and look forward to meeting you one day...
Allan Alesna Agriam Great message Akbar.. Mr Bowring had a peculiar way on teaching us and he made our class interesting and we always looked forward to going to his class. He made us a better person and his techniques in sharing knowledge in his own little ways developed our skills in a positive way.. Hi Mr Bowring Sir.. I was on the same class with Akbar.. Thank you so much for making Physics interesting..
Moad G. Alzarrough Thank you Mr. Bowring for uploading and keeping these unforgettable memories!!!! You are from amongst the best Teachers I've ever come across. You made us remember u so well from ur best best knowledge u have shared and taught us. Your knowledge brought us to stand where we are today, me as An investment banker and Foriegn Exchange dealer, all comes from the teachers of O.C.S and whom invested in us!!! Thank you, Thank you and thank you endlessly Sir, and thanks to all teachers back in the years of these incredible, unforgettable days of our lives. On behalf of every pupil u have taught, brought up, invested and dedicated your time to and for, I raise my hat for you Sir, as you will always be an unforgettable Idol.
Anas Khan. Thank you so much Mr. Bowring. I should tell you something. When I was in your class in 7th grade your style of teaching was why I grew to love science. I'm a teacher myself now. And I'm a very good teacher(not a modest one). And it's all thanks to the example I had of you. I run a school for low income kids here in India. We teach kids for less than a 100 dollars a year in fees and we have kids that score in the 90th percentile in the states exam. And I just want you to know that a lot of the good I'm able to do was because you taught me what a good teacher looks like. I start every physics class with pushing a kid around just like you did with Rahul Batra in our class. I still use your examples to teach friction. Thank you for everything.
Michael King I was fifth form so this would have been 1974/75. I think this is the year Bill Bowring coached our seven a side team. Great coach.
Kieran Duggan Bill Bowring I played for Belmont in the Rosslyn park 7s in 79 st Edwards were awesome that year
Michael King Bill Bowring. Doesn't surprise me, Bill. I don't know if you recall but our under 16 team coached by you was very successful, including winning the Rugby sevens. One of my great memories is travelling to Rugby, winning the competition and stopping off in the pub on the way back. I have to say, the winning was mainly down to you, Bill.

Hi Bill. How are you? I love fb for keeping in touch but absolutely hate posting. I did see your post and while I didn't want to post a comment for all to see I thought you should know that the impact you had as a teacher has been long-lasting and far-reaching. I'm not sure if you even remember me, but you were one of my most influential teachers. Physics never really made much sense to me, but you made it come alive in class. I'm now a physician, but I also teach the immunology course to the medical students and also am in charge of the residency program for clinical immunology in Toronto. When I prepare lectures I often reflect on some of my most influential teachers. You were knowledgeable, patient, prepared, understood where your learners were coming from, engaging, and most of all you really cared. I was probably in your class in the early 90's, but your impact lives on. Thank you for being a wonderful teacher, even at a time and place where resources were limited. None of us ungrateful students at that time had any idea how hard the work of a teacher is, but you never made it look difficult. I'm sure I'm one of countless students who still remember you as one of our favorite teachers. I hope you and your loved ones are all keeping well during these crazy times. All the best.
Wonderful to hear you are doing well! BC is beautiful. I was in Vancouver for 10 years before moving to Toronto, though never managed to visit Fernie. Yes, so ready to move past this insane pandemic. That’s interesting that physics wasn’t your main area. Sometimes I wonder if we are even more effective at teaching topics that don’t come easy to us because we have to break down the concepts for ourselves before teaching it to others. It’s amazing how time flies and I can’t remember the names of any of my professors yet I remember you and being in your class very distinctly. They always say others may not necessarily remember what you said, but how they felt when you said it. I think it’s the feeling of being in your class, enjoying hearing you lecture, learning something that was difficult, but believing that if I paid attention and worked hard that it was achievable. Teaching was clearly not just a job for you, it was really a calling and I can’t thank you enough for your influence.
