I have tutored maths ever since I started my A level studies, as my maths teacher offered me the opportunity to mentor a GCSE student who was struggling with maths during lunch hours. Massive improvements in her grades were noticeable, which inspired me to continue tutoring in maths during my first year of university. I tutored an A level student whose confidence in maths was quite poor however after months of tutoring, her confidence was brought back up and she managed to do so much better in her exams. After taking a break from tutoring due to my university exams, I restarted tutoring in my second year of studies where I tutored 2 students, one who is currently in year 7 and another starting to learn GCSE content. With my experience, I can turn grades around for the better and boost the confidence of all of my students! My tutoring lessons are offered online using Microsoft Teams and Zoom however I am able to utilise Google classroom as well. The main feature I use to deliver my lessons is the whiteboard feature as I tend to explain concepts whilst writing them down as that has proven to help the students understand what I am teaching. Most of my lessons are problem based wherein I give a problem and the student and I work on the problem together. This not only strengthens the student's mind to figure out how to solve the problem, it shows me as a tutor where the student struggles most in, leading me to tailor the rest of the lesson to focus on the aspect that they are struggling in.
