I have a Master's degree in Writing as well as experience in teaching English as a second language. Thus far I have helped people of mixed age, between 8 and 70, from the Middle East, India, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China to improve their written and spoken English. A number of these were students needing help with school, college or university assignments. Others were new migrants needing help with conversational English, form filling, resumes, letters and job applications. I have also helped people translate social media posts into English. I like to style lessons to a students needs. First we need to establish a working relationship and define the goals of the lesson or lessons.

If a student is working on written or spoken assignment for School, College or University then lessons would have a more formal stance. We would need to focus on the task given and the expectations of their teachers or lecturers.

If a student needs more confidence in written or spoken English then we can together decide how they would like to learn. For example, when I learn something important I need to write down what I hear or see or I will forget it easily. Some students learn through listening only and prefer to have a conversation. We all have our own styles.

I will always try to give students a few different ways of asking or answering questions to ensure they can comfortably communicate in different environments.
