As a tutor, I would strive to make each and every lesson enjoyable and comfortable for my student. I will tailor each lesson to the individual needs of each of my students. Together, my student and I will come up with creative and unique study plans and ideas that work specifically for them. I understand that grades aren’t usually a measurement of intelligence nor ability, but simply an indicator on whether a certain teaching style works for a certain student. In my final year of school, I am completing an Advanced Higher in English and achieved an A at Higher.
I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have thus far if I hadn’t thought of different approaches to learning. I would strive to ensure that my students feel comfortable in my lessons and feel as though they are actually able to speak to me honestly. If a certain method or approach isn’t working as well for my student as we hoped, I would make sure they are able to tell me that. Each of my students can tell me what they like and don’t like and we can work from there.
I also have experience working with students with additional needs. In school, I volunteer as an assisted reader aiding children who have difficulties with literacy in developing their reading and speaking skills. I also have experience aiding children in the LCR unit in my younger brother's school. There are many different children with different levels of ability and I made sure to work independently with each child and make sure their needs were listened to and met.
If you think this would benefit you or your child then I would be thrilled to start this journey!
