Hi, my name is Beth!

I have a 2.1 in English Literature and an A* in English at A-Level and GCSE. I also have previous tutoring experience with different age groups of learners.

I recently worked at a revision company, making and marking mock exams as well as tutoring students. Through this, I assessed Functional Skills: Speaking, Listening and Communication exams so have good experience in the mark scheme if this exam is coming up for you!

A key part of being a good tutor for me is being clear, patient and kind; my main aim is to make you feel comfortable and confident in your English abilities. I understand every learner moves at their own pace and has a unique way of understanding English which is why my lessons are learner-led - focusing on specific issues for them.

I’m happy and able to work with different ages of learners, as I have experience with Functional Skills, GCSE and A-Level assessment objectives/exam techniques.

The first lessons will usually consist of identifying techniques or problems that the learner is struggling with, explaining the theory behind them, and then putting them into practice! Once I have an idea of your general understanding I can then create a plan for the next lessons to make them as effective as possible.

I also offer marking of practice papers or essays, with a thorough breakdowns within lessons as well as written up notes for improvements that could be made in order to get top marks.
