Bernardine is a highly skilled musician and teacher who has several years of experience supporting people of all ages and abilities to develop in musical and personal confidence.
As a child growing up in Australia, out of her large family’s diverse taste in music, her Dads’ jazz records perhaps resonated the most. The bug started here with Classical Violin and Piano lessons as well as many extra -curricular school music activities and events.
At 18, she moved to London and academically followed her heart to study Pop/Rock music and Film/tv Composition to Masters’ level. This prompted a love of writing music and being part of recording and performing bands in the years to follow. Credits include an award-winning WWF/Aardman Animations short film as well as performing with a country rock n roll band at Glastonbury Festival.
Gaining employment and training with Plymouth Music Zone and the national Sing Up Programme; her interest moved towards singer-songwriter, and arranging, directing and performing music for community choirs, The Q-dettes and local theatre productions. Highlights being ‘Puss in Boots’ and Buster Keaton’s ‘One Week’ short.
Since moving to Derbyshire (to live with her now husband she met during college!) she has further enjoyed teaching vocals, piano and violin, and looks forward to meeting you and celebrating your successes.
