As a young linguist who has been through the British education system, I have first hand experience of learning languages in UK secondary schools. It is for this reason that I sympathise greatly with many young people who wish to learn a language, yet are encouraged to favour STEM subjects. Ultimately, this has fuelled my passion for teaching others the importance of learning a foreign language. Consequently, my lessons are made interactive and engaging to make language learning solely enjoyable for young students. With years of experience in the classroom as a Cover Supervisor during my studies at then University of Nottingham, I am a competent teacher/tutor who knows how to create an optimal working environment for students. My lessons include differing activities to improve students French written, spoken, reading and listening skills in preparation for their GCSE and A level exams. I also believe it is vitally important to include games and light-hearted activities in lesson plans to inspire students' interest in language learning. During my studies at University, during my year abroad, I worked as a Language Assistant in Bonneville, Haute Savoie, France, where I taught English to French students. This was such an amazing opportunity which enabled me to perfect my personal French linguistic skills, whilst also providing me with the chance to discover teaching techniques that suited both me and my students. I followed this experience up by completing a Teaching Languages module in my final year of University which included a 6 week placement in a local Nottinghamshire Secondary School as well as an opportunity to further research into the importance of fostering a Growth Mindset amongst learners.
