I am presently studying History and Political Economy at King’s College London, having just completed my first year. I have studied History throughout my academic career, having received a grade 9 at GCSE (2020) and then an A* at A level (2022) and then the same grade in Economics and Politics. My skills in the field lie in: primary and secondary source analysis, factual recall (specifically statistics and key dates) and how to frame a cohesive and convincing argument in an essay.
Whilst at university I have frequently written for the student newspaper alongside my studies recently climbing to an editorial role. This has given me experience working with more junior writers and helping turn their ideas into engaging articles and building their confidence. In addition, whilst in sixth form I ran a weekly debating club in which I taught younger students crucial historical and political concepts as well as the key pillars to debating: public speaking, structuring an argument and the art of rebuttal.
Drawing on this experience I hope to craft lessons around the needs and subject focusses of every student and build on the methods that served me well. These include: assembling a strong bank of statistics and relevant examples to support and challenge arguments, a confident knowledge of all concepts and how to evaluate them and a cohesive essay structure to tie it all together. I aim to do this through enjoyable and engaging lessons in an informal learning environment.
