In general, I will spend half of the lesson teaching content, and the other going through exam questions for that topic. This arrangement is flexible and can be adjusted on the speed that you pick up the content. I will also add questions from other topics we have covered to ensure the knowledge is retained throughout.
For the lesson part, I will use a mixture of PowerPoints, videos and screen-sharing software. I expect students to take notes and I’ll ensure the notes are concise, whether digital or physical ones. Also, I will use anecdotal tips and tricks that I used to help retain the relevant content that often comes up in the GCSE exams.
In regards to the question part, I will gather and make questions on the topic we have just learnt and allow you to try and complete them. If you need help, I will give it but I will try my best to let you attempt it before intervening. After marking the questions, we will go through the examiners reports to see what the examiner was/wasn’t looking for with the responses, which will help develop your exam technique and application skills.
The content we do will linearly follow the specification, unless particular topics are strong/weak then we can focus on them. If you have any topics in particular that you are weak on, I can create a lesson/gather questions in advance.
Finally, if there are any in-class tests coming up, I can help prepare you for them.
