I make a personalised plan for my students and use Microsoft whiteboard to help my students engage with the content. I am easy to talk and get to know. Previous students have said that I am a “fun” and “engaging” tutor.

To make a personal plan for my students I will first ask what they are looking to learn and get out of me. If they are unsure I will ask them to speak to their subject teacher and give them a test paper in the mean time to help me understand with what they struggle with.

I offer updates to parents or guardians that request to have updates for how their child is getting on with my tutoring service.

I believe in the mentality that if your teacher enjoys the subject that they teach and makes it engaging for the student, then the student will take in more of the material that is taught. To do this I take the student on a 3 step framework for each topic: Introduce, reiterate, and consolidate. First I will introduce the topic to the student and explain the process and why it is important. Then, I will goto the reiteration stage of the process, this is where I will give the student a few questions for them to complete and be able to guide them if they are struggling with the topic, and if needed go back to the introduction stage. Finally, in the consolidation stage of the process, this would take place a few lessons after or in homework I would give the student a few questions about the topic and see if the information has been set or if they require more help from me.

My time with Ben was short but helpful. Ben is a good tutor and made learning actually fun for me. His knowledge of maths helped me with parts of maths that I was struggling with and I have got better at it now!
