I'm a polyglot professional translator and interpreter with previous experience teaching French and English as foreign languages. I have tutored children and adults alike with various goals in mind, including but not limited to language certification exams. I typically leverage the student's own interests to teach using authentic materials on top of my own original materials. Using storytelling, songs, media analysis and conversation as a base, I will support your progress with straightforward explanations of the essential linguistic concepts you need to master.
Our first interaction will essentially serve to outline your needs and goals while I assess your current level.
Teaching in a school environment and teaching one-on-one are too very different sets of experiences for all involved. I've done both, over the past 21 years. I've also worked in various fields using three of my native level languages in the process (one isn't listed on my profile as it was not available in the drop-down menu).
With a background in communication/advertising, in film production and education, I've worked in the U.K., in continental France as well as in the Caribbean French colony of Martinique. I'm also an artist, a writer and a songwriter.
I adapt my lessons to your needs and to your personal learning style.
If you've guessed what my other native language is, let me know when you contact me. French language has ties to many cultures thanks to colonialism. Cultural awareness is a key element that may help language learners to communicate more efficiently in French, wherever they go.
