I am a highly experienced, fully DBS checked teacher of English who has recently moved to online tutoring.

I really enjoy working with young people and use a variety of teaching methods to suit the individual student.

I am passionate about bringing out the best in my students and helping them achieve their potential.
I have high standards and high expectations but at the same time I am patient and caring.

I have a wealth of resources which prepare students for their specific GCSE examination specification, or for SATS preparation for younger students.

My lessons take the format of identifying key areas where students need the most help and addressing those areas with a range of strategies. For example, I teach the five part narrative structure to enable students to score highly on the GCSE English language paper, as well as teaching students how to write descriptively and imaginatively.

I am passionate about English literature and enjoy teaching students how to draw inferences from texts, explore writers’ purposes and meanings and how to understand the context of texts and how this affects a reader’s understanding.

I have experience as an examiner and am familiar and experienced in delivering the specifications of the different examination boards.

I have experience with a wide variety of special educational needs and I enjoy supporting and helping less confident students to improve and achieve their potential as much as I enjoy stretching high achievers to achieve the top grades.
