4. Discuss if child has used coloured filters or wears glasses to help with learning.
5. What they hope to gain from tutoring.
6. What you can do to help them.
7. Establish what reading or maths books the pupil is working from (so you can get copies for yourself to help plan anything in advance)
The First Lesson will consist of:
1. Ask pupil to demonstrate what they understand/don't understand on the topic so far.
2. Ask Pupil what they find easiest/most challenging about learning this topic.
2. Based on what you determine is their primary learning style you will demonstrate alternative ways of learning for the child to try.
3. I understand that everyone is different, and based on how pupils progress I recommend a variety or resources and tools to help your child understand their topic dependant on their particular learning style.
4. From personal experience I understand children with dyslexia also simply need time and gentle encouragement which I provide in bucket loads.
5. I believe learning through play is extremely important and encourage pupils to use creativity to help them develop a strong visual element to learning and recall.
6. I encourage pupils to engage both the logical left hemisphere and right creative hemisphere of the brain which creates a strong basis of learning
